Sewer Science is an award-winning, hands-on laboratory program that teaches high school students in the District’s service area about wastewater treatment. During a week-long lab course, students create fake wastewater and employ physical, biological and chemical treatment methods and procedures to test its quality. The lab is facilitated by biologists and chemists from the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, allowing students the opportunity to learn first-hand from experienced science professionals.
