Newsletter

In order to better communicate with our stakeholders, we created an electronic newsletter and have published the following two issues:

• Fall 2008 (2 page PDF file)
  This initial edition contains a "vision" for the Discovery Center and a description of the environmental process for the Center's plans. It also includes the "Letter from Belinda" by the Interim Executive Officer, which will be a regular feature of the newsletter.
• Winter 2008 (1 page PDF file)
  The second edition features the addition of a new member of the Discovery Center staff; Hugo Garcia began work as Project Manager on November 3. Other items include the "Letter from Belinda" and a preview of the Strategic Plan that will be considered by the Board of Directors.

Strategic Plan

The latest step in the planning process for the San Gabriel River Discovery Center is the creation of a Strategic Plan which is intended to abetter-define the overarching vision, mission, values, goals and objectives of the organization. [More details]

Whittier Narrows Recreation Area Master Plan

A series of public meetings and workshops will be held in which the community is invited to help create a vision to for Whittier Narrows Recreation Area as a premier regional facility while preserving essential flood control and water resources functions. Based on this vision, specific proposals for improvements will be developed in the near future. Eight government organizations (cities and agencies) are involved in this planning process.

The next workshops are to be held on January 29 and March 26, 2009, but the locations have not yet been selected. All are invited to attend. [More details]
