Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR)

The Discovery Center Authority issued a Notice of Availability and Notice of Public Meetings (3-page PDF file) of the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the San Gabriel River Discovery Center at Whittier Narrows Project. The 60-day public comment period for the Draft EIR commenced on June 5, 2009 and concluded on August 3, 2009. Two public meetings were held to solicit input from interested parties on the content of the Draft EIR.

• The first meeting was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at South El Monte High School (1001 North Durfee Avenue in South El Monte, California) at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
• The second meeting was held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the South El Monte High School(1001 North Durfee Avenue in South El Monte, California) at 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The Draft EIR was required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). It was superseded by the Final EIR, but is made available here for information.
