Overview of the Discovery Center Project

The San Gabriel River Discovery Center is being planned to complement and enhance the existing Whittier Narrows Nature Center. The Discovery Center will present the story of the San Gabriel River watershed, emphasize the importance of water resources and the natural values of the watershed, and provide educational and outdoor experiences for people of all ages.

The organizations created to make the Discovery Center a reality are described in About Us and in Our Governing Board and Stakeholder Advisory Committee. Board meetings and Committee meetings are open to the public.

Plans proposed for the Discovery Center and for the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area — where the Center will be located — are described in Our Plans and Related Plans.
